In Killing Floor 2, there is no option to host a listen server like there was in Killing Floor. For this reason, this guide exists to help players setup a dedicated server so they can play this game with friends, and keep others out by means of a password if they so wish.
- 1Hosting a Dedicated Server
Using the Killing Floor SDK, the community can create custom maps for admins to host on their servers. These maps can be automatically downloaded by users joining your server with a few easy steps as follows: 1) Download a custom map and place it in the maps folder. 2) Go to your system folder and create a.bat file with the following code. Tutorial on how to set up a Killing Floor 2 Server, the non dick-ripping way. You can find part 2 here: Links: Fi.
While official instruction on setting up a dedicated Killing Floor 2 server can be found here, below is a much easier way that makes life simpler. (Not to mention the SteamCMD link is out-dated!)
Installation
- On your Steam Client, hover over your library, and select Tools. Find and install the Killing Floor 2 Dedicated Server. This shouldn't take more than a few minutes.
- Find the batch file in your Killing Floor 2 installation directory. It will be called 'KF2Server.bat'.
- Run this file and open Killing Floor 2, you will find the server under LAN in the Server Browser option.
Optional Settings
To edit the settings of your server, right-click on the 'KF2Server.bat' file and select edit, or open it in your favorite text editor (Notepad++).
The first time you do this, you'll see this line:
Free mp3 songs of movie veer zaara watch online. This is the basic dedicated server. When adding parameters, note that they all attach on the end of the map and there are no spaces, except in names like ServerName=Thunder Sniper's LOADSAMONEY Server.
Example:
The optional settings are as follows:
URL Arguments | Valid Values | Explainataion |
---|---|---|
AdminName | Alpha numeric character combinations like Admin25 | This is the admin username for your WebAdmin if you use it and for logging in via the console in-game |
AdminPassword | Alpha numeric character combinations like 0F7GR058008 | This is the password for your admin login |
MaxPlayers | Numeric value only, default 6 | The amount of players maxmimum allowed on the server at any one time |
Difficulty | Numeric 0-3 | Sets the server difficulty, 0 = Normal, 1 = Hard, 2 = Suicidal, 3 = Hell on Earth |
Port | Numeric value like 7787 | Changes the port the server listens for connections on |
QueryPort | Numeric value like 27015 | Changes the QueryPort, changing the Port value without changing this, will automatically change this as well. |
WebAdminPort | Numeric value like 8080 | The port the server listens on for http:// requests to access the web admin panel |
Multihome | IP Address like 192.168.1.65 | If the server can resolve to multiple IP addresses then this command ties a server to a specific IP address |
PREFERREDPROCESSOR | Number value like 2 | This ties a server to using a set amount of cores on a multicore machine |
ConfigSubDir | Alpha numeric value like KF2Server-Normal-Long1 | Creates and reads configuration settings from the value set as a directory, also allows you to set individual server settings per INI files. |
INI Settings
These settings are only viable in the INI files, which requires the use of the ConfigSubDir parameter when starting your dedicated server.
Option | Valid Value | Explaination |
---|---|---|
ServerName | Alpha numeric like TS-Server1 | The server name displayed in the Server Browser |
AdminContact | Alpha numeric value like [email protected] | The displayed admin contact in server browser |

GameMapCycles example:
Don't forget to save and then run your dedicated server. Friends and other players can join your server simply via the steam overlay or by inviting them when in the lobby.
There are a few other options listed on the Tripwire Interactive wiki but these ones here should be all 99% of players need.

Killing Floor is a first person co-op action game. The dedicated server component can be run as a Windows Service using FireDaemon Pro, which allows you to start the dedicated server automatically at boot prior to login, start multiple instances of the dedicated server and more. This HOWTO will show you how to set it up. You can also use FireDaemon Fusion to manage FireDaemon and other Windows services via a web browser.
Killing Floor Dedicated Server Setup Under FireDaemon Pro
First download and extract SteamCMD. The download is small (< 2 MB).
Go to the directory where you installed SteamCMD and create a shortcut to 'SteamCMD.exe'. Next edit the properties of the shortcut and in the target box, at the end of it (with a space before the following), put:
The target box should now look something like:
Now click the shortcut you created and let it run to download the Killing Floor server files. It might take a few hours to update everything. You should also run the shortcut every week or so to grab the latest server updates. Make sure to stop your server first.
Killing Floor uses one configuration file to store its settings. The file is 'KillingFloor.ini' and is created in the 'System' folder once you start the server.

Download and install FireDaemon Pro into the directory of your choice, typically C:Program FilesFireDaemon.
Next start the FireDaemon GUI from the desktop shortcut. Click on the 'Create a new service definition' button in the toolbar (or type Ctrl+N) and enter the information into the fields as you see below. Adjust the paths to suit your installation. Note the required parameters.
Executable: The path to your uuc.exe file. For the purposes of this HOWTO, the path is C:KFsystemuuc.exe.
Working Directory: The directory containing your uuc.exe file. For the purposes of this HOWTO, the path is C:KFsystem.
The most important field on the tab is the Parameters. The Parameters define the initial setup of your server.
Here’s the full parameter list you should have:

- 'server” loads the server.
- 'KF-” loads the map.
- “game” loads the Killing Floor mod (Killing Floor is an Unreal Tournament 4 modification).
- “VACSecured” enables VAC (Valve Anti Cheat) protection of your server. You can remove this command if you do not want to use VAC.
- “maxplayers” This controls the maximum of amount of players you want your server to run. You can only control the max players on server startup. This command should never be removed.
Now click on the Settings tab. If you DON'T want to see your dedicated server running, uncheck the Interact with Desktop check box & select “Hidden” from the “Show Window” dropdown. You can optionally run Killing Floor Dedicated Server as the user you installed it as. In the Logon Account field type your username (e.g. Administrator) and then enter the user's password twice in the Password and Confirm fields. You can change the Process Priority to allocate more CPU time to the dedicated server or specify which CPU or core the dedicated server will run on (in the case of multi-processor, hyperthreaded or multi-core CPUs).
